Friday Diversion: Fun with Google Auto-Complete

Yes, I know…the “Thursday Diversion” for this week is a day late. I was at a conference in San Diego for the beginning part of this week and simply did not have time since I was catching up. So sue me. I think this is a pretty good one though, so I didn’t want to wait a whole extra week just to post it.

Google’s auto-complete feature can produce some pretty hilarious results, as shown by mkandlez’s diagram above. He used the Web Seer tool to create a pretty nifty visual representation of what people are searching for when it comes to boyfriend/girlfriend advice. Hilarious!

I tried one, using “why do dogs…” vs. “why do cats…” in the search boxes. The most common “complete” phrase was: “lick people”.

Perhaps I’ll just have to Google both and find out.

Thursday Diversion: March Madness

In light of the start of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament today, I’ve decided to dedicate my “Thursday Diversion” to the time of year we fondly refer to as “March Madness.”

Full of Cinderella stories, dominant basketball powerhouses and fantastic collegiate rivalry spirit, the NCAA Tournament is not something to be missed, especially if your alma mater is in the tourney, or if you are just an avid sports fan, like me.

As you can see from my bracket, I did pick some lower seeds to upset their match-ups in Round #1. Of course, I clearly picked the wrong match-up to wager on. Good thing I’m not playing for Vegas money.

What about you? Who do you have winning it all at the Big Dance and taking home the championship trophy?

Thursday Diversion: Germ Colonies

How many germs live on your cell phone?

Created by Oatmeal

OK, time for a little Thursday Diversion, brought to you today by Oatmeal.

If you take Oatmeal’s “Phone Germs” quiz, it will provide you with a nifty little badge (like this one) to place on your own blog/website.

Apparently I have 674,100 germs living on my cell phone…right now. Neat.
